MotoGP returns to Portugal: Grand Prix at the Algarve International Circuit
The Autódromo Internacional do Algarve hosts the Grand Prix of Portugal, a round of the 2026 MotoGP World Championship, from 20 to 22 November. The circuit sits in the hills above Portimão, in the western Algarve. Friday brings practice. Saturday has qualifying and the Sprint, and Sunday is the Grand Prix.
About the circuit
The Algarve International Circuit opened in 2008 after a record seven-month build. It is 4.653 kilometres long, with 15 turns and dramatic elevation changes. It has FIA Grade 1 status and has hosted MotoGP, World Superbike and, in 2020 and 2021, the Formula 1 Portuguese Grand Prix. Formula 1 returns in June 2027, as our Portuguese Grand Prix page explains.

Tickets and the race weekend
Tickets are on sale through the Autódromo Internacional do Algarve. Options include reserved grandstand seats and general admission for selected zones. Print your ticket if you can, because the mobile network at the circuit can be overloaded, especially on Sunday. Food and drink are limited to personal quantities, and drones, pets and professional cameras are not allowed. Find the full programme on the MotoGP calendar.
Getting to the circuit
The address is Sítio do Escampadinho, Mexilhoeira Grande, 8500-148 Portimão. By car, take the A22 motorway and leave at Mexilhoeira Grande. Faro Airport is roughly 80 to 85 kilometres away, about an hour by road. There is no direct train, and the nearest station is Portimão.
Parking is mostly free, but car parks can be 10 to 30 minutes’ walk from the gates, and the small roads around the circuit get congested on race days. In recent years free shuttles ran from Portimão and Lagos, so check this year’s event guide. Many fans prefer to hand the logistics to a driver.
Getting to the MotoGP with Amiroad
Amiroad provides private chauffeur transfers to the circuit from Faro Airport, Lisbon and any hotel in the Algarve. We time them around qualifying and race day, drop you as close as practical and collect you after the last session. We also coordinate transport for teams, technical crews and equipment, with private transfers for VIP guests and groups. See our fleet for the vehicles.
The Algarve is worth more than a weekend at the track. Explore our Portimão tours and Algarve tours, or add a round of golf with our golf transfers. For dinner, our guide to Michelin star restaurants in Portugal maps seven starred tables along the Algarve coast.
